The gift in the loss

Individually and collectively, humanity is going through an initiation. As the old is dying, we experience series of losses – of projects, people, health, freedom, identity, imagined futures, the world as we knew it ...

If we choose to honour these losses, they become a source of power and possibility.

In this experiential workshop, we will meet some of the losses we are living now, look for the hidden gifts they contain, and listen to the messages these gifts have for our desired futures.

The process is applicable to all the big and small losses Life has in store for us.

Please have a pen and paper ready, for tracking your inner journey during the gathering.

TIPS FOR ZOOM ONLINE GATHERINGS

If you haven't used Zoom before, it is a web-based video conference platform. You’ll need:

  • A computer or tablet (ideally one with a camera so we can see each other) withaccess to the internet. You can also connect via phone; yet visibility and options are limited.

  • Earbuds or headphones are recommended so we can hear each other well.

  • You do NOT have to have a Zoom account.

To access the Zoom web video conference:

To join, click on the link provided ahead of time by the event host. You do not need a Zoom account – and also do not need to download any app (= you can access the gathering via browser). You will access the audio through your computer by clicking “Join Audio by Computer” when the window pops up.

The option of joining a Zoom meeting in a browser (no app, or account) appears after you’ve clicked to join a meeting — in tiny text underneath a more prominent link to “download & run Zoom”.

Tips for an easy Zoom experience:

1. Arrive early and create your own intentional space. Arrive five to ten minutes early; check the connections; clear the working/connecting space.

2. Create your own intentional space. Think about creating your own centre of intention (e.g. light a candle, or have a plant or flower by your computer, or perhaps a meaningful object that you can use as a focal point).

3. Avoid distractions. When possible, close the programs and notifications and put your phone on silent.

4. During the call, mute yourself when you are not speaking.

5.  Use Gallery View and Speaker View options to optimise viewing:

  • Gallery View (in the upper-right corner of an active meeting) allows you to see everyone present at once (or across several screens).

  • Speaker View is helpful when you want to focus on the person speaking (or presenting notes).
